All conditions office
What’s the ultimate in functionality? Gear that works in all conditions. There are hundreds of ways to negotiate trails, subways, bus schedules, whitewater and bike lanes…or all of the above. It’s what we do: Urbaneering. So many products are great at crossover between what we are passionate about in our free time and what we really need and use in our day to day grind. All too often there are products out there designed for style and use, but are really only so good at one or the other. Seriously, does anyone use a briefcase anymore? Makes the bike commute a little more difficult.
For hitting the local coffee shop, heading to work, carrying what you need for the afternoon workout and making it back home can take some room. Without too much effort, there’s a key versatile player here. Chances are a laptop is your weapon of choice and you’ve got to protect it in some way, have some room for your mug and water bottle, a notebook or two and a couple of pens. Maybe a flash drive…up to you, really. Options? Get a sweet combo of the mobile office sort like the Giga Flat or Giga Office packs. They are handsome, exceptionally functional and you won’t get thrown out of any boardroom endeavor.
What if you have a fantastic pack? Use it.
The rig: Apple Macbook, custom coffee cup from my friend Jeremy Collins, laptop sleeve, pens, flash drives, 2 Action Books, chargers, headphones, some magazines, gum, waterbottle, jacket, smartphone…and of course my glasses.
That’s the mobile office that easily negotiates airports, bike lanes, the bus and subway stations and the coffee shop stops. When the 9 to 5 stops, day hikes, light overnights and a trip to the rock gym are as easily taken on. With the rain cover and division of labor (pockets) this has been with me non-stop for the past 2 months. No joke. Get one and try it. Pretty much all you need is your own personal rig, that all important laptop sleeve and your pack.
